Working with just two Technics turntables, a Revox reel to reel tape deck and a stanley knife Greg (literally) cut-up a series of stunning one off DJ re-edits, each exclusive to his dance-floors. These edits virtually wrote the rulebook for DJ’s, re-mixers and producers growing up and going out in early 80s Britain.

'Pizza Turtle Cadillac' features Coco Solid, a New Zealand born MC & already a star in her own right who is currently on a worldwide tour. This independent MC has been rocking the airwaves for some time whilst also performing alongside the likes of Sway, Spankrock and SA-RA. The hilarious tongue in cheek joint 'Weight Watchers' again from Coco Solid has all the hall marks of the early Soft Cell material with Cindy Ectasy. Slightly sinister, funny as hell, with a funky lyrical flow and damn sassy too! Rounding up the package are the Yam Who? reworks. Ruff electronic disco funk is the only way to sum up their production for PDE. Bumblebee Unlimited was a studio concept of producers/songwriters/arrangers Gregory Carmichael and Patrick Adams that merged hot disco music with sped up vocals to suggest singing bugs. One track even makes a sly reference to "Fly of the Bumblebee." The vocalists who get "bug-a-zied" include Leroy Burgess and Carmichael.

After the release of “Chasm” and “Wrong Galaxy,” Shit Robot (Marcus Lambkin) had listeners’ ears burning for more.

“Simple Things (Work It Out)” is his much-anticipated new single to be released by his good friends at DFA Records. Born in Ireland, Lambkin was instantly drawn to music, where he augmented his punk rock education of the Buzzcocks and the Dead Kennedys with nights spent wholly entranced with Acid House in the late eighties. Relocating to New York City in ‘92, Lambkin was well on his way to becoming one of the top DJs in New York City when he chanced into meeting future discopunk don James Murphy. Even after Lambkin returned to the continent, his friendship with Murphy continued to develop, evolving into Shit Robot along the way.

In the ﬁne DFA lineage of “Losing My Edge” and “Casual Friday,” “Simple Things” upholds the tradition of DFA ‘talkies,’ coupling body-pulverizing bangers with brain-tickling diatribes. The new track is no different, as it features the steely-eyed

rant of Washington D.C. based iconoclast Ian Svenonius, who has been the voice of such bands as Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up, and Chain and the Gang. Spleening and screeching throughout about robots, singing machines, and the loss of innocence, Svenonius gets matched every step of the way by Lambkin, who shadows that singular voice with an elegant yet gritty array of synthetic genius.

When it came to the task of remixing such a totemic track, Lambkin enlisted two very different men, Serge Santiago and Todd Terje, for the task. For the UK pressing, Santiago --a British based record producer whose talent can most recently be heard on the newest Goldfrapp single-- strips everything down to the acid bassline and a telltale drum tock, pressurizing every component to the point of meltdown, before dropping in a classic piano line to stabilize everything. Originally hailing from Oslo, nu-disco edit-master Terje showcases his remix skills. His subtle yet deft touch here makes his “Simple Things” remix the lynchpin of any disco fanatic’s play list.

With a steady heart-throbbing bass line and an array of startling acidic sounds that build up the danceﬂoor brick by brick, Shit Robot’s “Simple Things” offers us a glimpse of a futuristic new world, one built not merely by robots, but by Shit Robot.

Black Cock Records was the label organized by DJ Harvey and Gerry Rooney back in 1993.

Originally a pair of rave DJs, they stumbled into the white label scene that year with these quirky records which were seminal, and rare disco hits, remixed and pressed on pirate vinyl.

The lift you got in a rave when one of the tracks on the first set of Black Cock Records, The Mystic Slot E.P., was played was incredible. On "No Way Back", a Re-Edit of The Dells original, the vocal refrain of "go out and stay out all night" was akin to having your parents tell you it was alright to freak and party all night long, just like they did 20 years earlier. Brilliant.

The records only got better and better and Harvey and Rooney became legends of the scene. Now Harvey runs the amazing night, Sarcastic Disco, in LA and looks like a degenerate hippy you'd kick as you step over him to walk into the club night, which is one of the hottest out there.

Being a dj since he was a teenager, Humberto fully understands the ease with which people gather around music, talking, partying, and letting themselves go. In Flagranti is the duo of Sasha Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor. They both have been in and around various scenes on opposite sides of the globe between New York and Europe. What they share is the simultaneous discovery of the italian cosmic scene from the late 70’s early 80’s. Both were hooked after hearing some of the mixed tapes in the early 80’s, which had this hypnotic blend of electro-disco-afro-rock-funk-dub.

Richard Sen and Neil Higgins are not normal people. Having won notoriety as a Bronx Dog (Heavenly) and a Dirty Beatnik (Wall of Sound) respectively, Padded Cell came about in 2003, partly as a response to the conservatism of early millennium dance music but also to act as a conduit through which they could conduct and realize their most outlandish ideas.
Originally let loose in order to remix Big Two Hundred’s ‘Let it Bleed’, their first full scale release came in the Autumn of 2005 with Signal Failure, a prowling slab of sub aqua freak funk that reached like an ESP projection from within the Cell to the darkest corners of the dance floor.
With a sound that draws from sources as diverse as Goblin, The Velvet Underground, Arthur Russell, Prince, Carl Craig and label boss J Saul Kane, analogue fetishism and creeping psychosis are key themes, as is a need to create something that is both honest and unique.
It is their intent to fashion a sound that is soulful and emotional, yet also dark and narcotic; something that can be understood simultaneously by the head and the heart, getting under the skin in different ways. Rather than seeking to fit into a pre-existing niche, its about creating an idiosyncratic sound that is peculiar to their respective personalities and reflective of their combined experience.
A shared history as club deejays and producers means that even the most mind bending elements of their sound are conducted through dance floor focused channels; disco breaks and rolling percussion combining with menacing synth work outs, electro sensibilities and live instrumentation to create an unholy brew that has been described variously as ‘dark-disco’, ‘goth-disco-rock’, and perhaps most tellingly of all, ‘devils-disco’.
The Padded Cell inhabit a hinterland between many worlds and it is there that they conduct their alchemical experiments, the experiments that draw the listener into shadows with whispers and opaque promises; follow your ears and You’ll find yourself trapped within.

ALBUM REVIEW FROM DISCOGS:
This is a very obscure release by one of the earliest of the euro disco artists who would later personify an entire genre. Originating from France, this release developed a major cult following all over Europe during the last 25 years and it is now considered to have been a major influence on many of the early 80's italo disco and euro disco artists who emerged on the scene shortly after this release. As for this LP - it's a 2-sided vinyl release with 6 songs all having a copycat sound effect that makes each song sound similar to the others. The only difference is a few tweeks to the synthesizer, the speed of the drum machine's BPM and some different vocals which ultimately allowed the amateur artists behind the Black Devil act to create their one and only LP. The songs were all recorded in real-time and all begin with that dark and wicked drum beat that sounds less like a disco song but more like the procession of a tribal ceremony in the jungles of Africa. Very bizarre, very rare, and very good music. Get it if you can!

"It's hard to tell whether it's a joke or not, but the original release from Black Devil Disco Club came out on Rephlex a couple years back and was reportedly originally recorded in 1978 by a mysterious French duo named Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge. Eventually, it was discovered that the person behind the music was a French producer by the name of Bernard Fevre." - almostcool
